On-the-Job Training Instructor

The course is designed to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of creating and managing an effective On-the-Job Training programme, including identifying training needs, planning training sessions, assessing trainee performance, and evaluating training outcomes.

Module 1 – Identify Training Needs
Training needs can be identified through needs analysis, job task analysis, and trainee analysis. These processes help determine training requirements, create task lists, and prioritise tasks for a structured OJT programme.
 
Module 2 – Plan OJT Sessions
Participants learn how to plan effective OJT sessions by developing job aids, segmenting and sequencing tasks into a logical learning progression, preparing training outlines, and creating session plans while considering the characteristics of adult learners.
 
Module 3 – Conduct OJT Sessions
Participants learn how to evaluate trainee knowledge and skills, prepare and brief trainees on the programme, guide them through supervised performance practice, and conduct debriefings following training sessions.
 
Module 4 – Assess Trainees’ Performance
Participants learn how to assess trainee competency by evaluating knowledge and skills acquired during OJT sessions. The module covers the design of valid and reliable rating instruments and strategies to minimise common rating errors.
 
Module 5 – Evaluate OJT Programme Effectiveness
Participants learn how to evaluate the effectiveness of structured OJT programmes using Kirkpatrick’s evaluation model, including gathering data from trainee performance assessments and feedback to identify gaps and implement improvements.
Practical Component
Participants will engage in interactive group activities, practical exercises and role-play, and scenario-based discussions.

  • Progress tests
  • Practical exercises
  • Mastery tests conducted during the course
Participants who attend and successfully complete the programme will receive a Certificate issued by Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC)
