If you are sending Dangerous Goods by Air, the items must be properly packed, marked, labelled and declared. The persons sending the Dangerous Goods are required to be trained. The Dangerous Goods can only be lodged with freight forwarding companies or airlines.

There are organisations that offer a commercial packing service. The service may seem expensive, however it may be cost-effective and time-saving  when compared with the cost of obtaining the packaging materials and making several attempts to send the item whilst incurring fees with each failed
attempt to send the items.

  • Can I Post Dangerous Goods?

     Do not post Dangerous Goods – it is illegal and unsafe to put Dangerous Goods in the mail.

   • Be advised:

      If Dangerous Goods is sent by air and the packaging, labelling, documentation do not meet the requirements of the TTCAA, ICAO and IATA, you may be liable to        financial penalties.

Section 64 of the Civil Aviation Act states: Any person who offers or accepts dangerous goods for commercial air transport in violation of Annex 18 to the Chicago Convention or the ICAO Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air, or violates any duty imposed thereunder, commits an offence and shall be liable to a penalty of five hundred thousand dollars for each part of the Technical Instructions that are violated.

Before sending any item that may be considered as Dangerous Goods, one should first seek advice from the appropriate air transport freight forwarder or airline operator. In the case of mailing the item, first check with the Post Office or agency.
